The Pedestal

Pedestals come in many sizes and materials. Some are simple, some are ornate. In Art galleries, pedestals like the one above, hold three-dimensional Artworks to give the piece attention and to aid viewing.

The Pedestal is an online article that will give attention to one Studio Art student or alum every few months. Thus, please check back and find out who is featured and what fabulous things he/she has been doing lately.

In conjunction with his solo exhibition in the Gallery, on Saturday, September 29th , Brad McCombs lead an outdoor workshop on Straw Bale Construction. Brad designed an outdoor sculpture for our campus that was created during the workshop and it remained up for a month.

Students in the Contemporary Art History courses wrote reviews of the workshop and Gallery exhibition. The two best papers were selected by John Martin and Leticia Bajuyo to be posted online. These papers were written by
Amy Dunham '09 and Samuel Lowery '09.

This event was part of the Senior Capstone – Global Climate Change and was made possible through the support of the Rivers Institute and the Center for Free Inquiry.
